#brainful IMPORTANT: Do not modify this block as changes will not be saved. New versions of this block will replace any modifications. Welcome to brainful! Blocks
This document is a block. Blocks are the building blocks of brainful. They are the smallest unit of content. Blocks:
- - Can be text, images, videos, or any other type of content.
- - Can be as short (a few words) or as long as you want (thousands of words).
- - Can be nested inside other blocks to construct a hierarchy (creating parent-child relationships).
- - Can be linked to other blocks to construct a network (creating forward/backward relationships).
Versioning and Syncing
All changes made are automatically synced periodically to the cloud after a change is made. All blocks are automatically versioned after a substantial change in the content of a block has been made. You can see the version number at the top of the editor. If you want to manually create a new version for reference, click the 'stamp' button at the top of the editor and enter your commit message of this version for your reference.
Creating links
There exist two kinds of links in brainful:
- - Internal links: These are links to other blocks within the same space. Create them using the [title](block_luid) format.
- - External links: These are links to external websites. Create them using the [title](hyperlink) format.
Entities
Entities are the main forms of organising blocks. Since brainful has no folders, and essentially stores your data as a graph, entities are the main way to organise your blocks. Entities associate blocks with a common theme or topic. Create them using the '#' symbol followed by the entity name. For example, #getting-started. Entities have to be in no particular order or place within a block.
Search
You can search by fragments, ideas, or entities using # followed by the entity name. Click ctrl+B to search for blocks.
BlockSpaces
Think of spaces as workspaces for managing different projects, topics, or areas of interest. Spaces:
- - Can contain a main 'working block'
- - Can contain other reference 'working blocks'
Editing
The editor is a WYSIWYG editor. You can perform most of the basic text editing operations like bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, highlights, headings, and links. You can select a piece of text and a context menu should appear with these options. Bold, underline, and italics also work with keyboard shortcuts. To highlight you can simply wrap the desired selection with `==` (double equals) and the text will be highlighted. You can create dividers using `
` (three dashes) on a new line.
