brainful is introducing a fundamental change in the way AI permeates the underlying platform components by introducing a new model, provider, and capability agnostic LM interface. This service is available today to brainful users on brainful.ai. The chat interface has direct integrations with the brainful API to support direct data capture. We now manage over 50 LLMs across over 10 providers.

data-oriented and magic entities

brainful is augmenting the entity model to support powerful data modelling capabilities through natural language. For example, the ability to generate statistical summaries, tabular representations utilising context-aware block analysis.

Additionally, we have introduced the concept of 'magic' entities, which are entities with special properties that define the state and behaviour of the block in which they encompass to simplify block management workflows.

The internet is the most ubiqituous store of information. Starting now, brainful is finally changing how we find information. We have finally introduced a set of tools that give brainful AI real time internet access. Over time, we will be indexing the web with a focus on high quality sources to augment the general intelligence of brainful as well as enabling brainful AI to assist in research-oriened workflows that require up to date information or citation-based responses.

brainful AI will automatically search the web when it deems necessary. You can also explicitly tell brainful AI to search the web or go to specific URLs for more focused responses.

unlocking limitless memory

We have introduced a sophisticated model for memory utilising extended finite state machines (FSMS) to ensure AI never loses context, can handle multiple simultaneous chains of thought in separate memory models, as well as allowing for more intricate and agent-feedback cycle workflows for higher quality responses.

passwordless authentication

We have finally introduced passkeys to brainful. This is the recommended authentication method for all users. Enabling passkeys will allow you to disable password based authentication, and alongside it, many of the vulnerabilities that conventional passwords are susceptible to such as brute force or phishing.

Enable passkeys by going to your account settings and going to the account security tab.

We have added TOTP verification, alongside email OTP verification to add an extra layer of security to your account. Previously, your account was protected exclusively by behavioural and environmental factors to prompt for MFA, now, you have the option to force an additional layer of MFA on login.

We have also added further environment security measures to prevent phising or man-in-the-middle attacks by assigning a state of the art, unique rotating time sensitive hardware and software fingerprint to your session to make it extremely difficult for an adversary to gain remote access to your account.

Migrated vector search from Neo4J to PostgreSQL with pg_vector for improved performance and reliability. Enhanced security with TOTP verification and geographic restrictions. Touch screen support now includes full drag and drop functionality for block panels, making brainful more accessible on all devices.

We have recreated the block panel drag, drop, and resize experience as well as making the syncing of the position and size states more reliable.

We have also added support for touchscreens in the main app. This includes full drag and drop support for block panels and the ability to resize blocks by dragging the edges.

markdown & hierarchy improvements

the beginning

brainful was born on December 20, 2022. Initial features included user authentication, file uploads, and a daily notes system. Dark mode UI, rich-text editing, and basic search functionality laid the foundation. OpenAI integration for note previews and auto-tagging for videos showed the AI-first vision from day one.
